Job Description:
The Institute for Governance and Civics (IGC), along with the Department of Economics at Florida State University, invites applications for a position at the tenured associate or full professor rank. This is a full-time, 9-month, tenured position in the Department of Economics with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025. Salary is competitive.
We seek outstanding candidates whose research explores how economic, political, and legal institutions influence economic development, and whose work highlights economic liberty and the political economy of a free society. Candidates with experience in public-facing civic or economic initiatives are particularly desired. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to high-quality research and scholarship through publications in top-tier venues. Duties also include teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, service responsibilities, and engagement in IGC programming.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Economics or equivalent terminal degree at the time of appointment;
- A clear record of research activity equivalent to an associate professor or full professor (depending on the rank being sought) at an R1 research university;
- An established record of successful teaching at the university level, commensurate with the rank being sought, and a demonstrated ability to teach and participate in the Department’s undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs.

HIRING: 1 Open Rank Search in Data Analyst
Start Date: ASAP
Job Description:
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree upon taking the position. Expertise is required in the specific area of polling and data analysis (heavy emphasis on polling). Responsibilities may include designing and carrying out experiments, creating surveys and conducting polling, collecting and aggregating data from various sources, estimating regression models and other empirical analyses, presenting findings at public meetings and conferences, advising the Director on research questions and methods, and assisting various PIs affiliated with the IGC in their grant and paper writing. Candidates who also can conduct cost-benefit analyses are desired but not required.
- The position will research matters relating to civics, public policy, education, politics, and related matters.
- We are open to candidates from various mathematical and social science backgrounds, such as statistics, political science, public policy, economics, and related fields.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Academic doctorate or highest-level terminal degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.

HIRING: Assistant Professor in Pre-K-12 Education Policy
Department:
Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies - Anne Spencer Daves College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences
Responsibilities:
- Engaging in a well-defined scholarly agenda with clear connections to pre-K-12 education policy.
- Developing and submitting grant proposals, solely and with colleagues, to appropriate funding agencies.
- Teaching graduate courses in the MS, PhD, and EdD programs related to education policy and/or research methods.
- Providing service to the department and the institute and to the profession.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in education policy or related education field from a college of education, a school of public policy, or from the social science disciplines.
- Evidence of high-quality scholarship (e.g., recent publications in peer-reviewed journals, working papers, recent presentations at national or international conferences).
- Commitment to and experience working with student populations.
- Ability to teach pre-K-12 education policy courses and/or research methods courses.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

FSU Institute for Governance and Civics and the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies (ELPS) in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at Florida State University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-earning assistant-level faculty position with a focus on pre-K-12 education policy.
We welcome applications from scholars engaged in a wide range of theoretical traditions, methodological approaches, and content areas, with a particular interest in quantitative methods and in educational governance and finance, including market-based reforms, school choice, accountability, and the role of parents.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake a robust research program in a well-defined area of scholarship with clear connections to pre-K-12 education policy. The candidate should have a publication record and a record of seeking and/or securing external funding commensurate with level. The candidate will be expected to teach and advise graduate students in the department’s MS, PhD, and online EdD programs and to participate in the Institute for Governance and Civics programming.
