American Foundations — Session I: The Creation of the American Republic
This first session of the three-part American Foundations course examines the creation of the American republic with a focus on the principles of liberty. Taught by Professor Michael Driscoll, the class explores the political ideas and philosophical commitments that motivated the Founding generation. Participants will consider foundational questions: On what principles was the United States created, and what ideas shaped the Founders’ understanding of liberty and self-government?
This session is part of a three-week course meeting on Mondays from March 23 through April 6.
